Julio Gallegos Alvarado is professor at Universidad Europea en Madrid since 2012, teaching courses on Space Vehicles and Missiles, Satellite Design and recently, Introduction to Relativity and Cosmology. Additionally, Julio participates in the Master in Aeronautics Engineering, Teaching part of the course on Advanced Navigation Systems. He leads the CUBICU project to develop a 3U Cubesat with the mission to calibrate ground instruments observing the polarisation of the CMB. His research interest focuses on alternative power subsystems for deep space missions. Julio graduated as Physicist from Universidad del Valle de Guatemala and holds doctor degrees in Control Systems for Aerospace Structures and Astrophsycs He has worked at Instituto de Física de Cantabria, Max-Planck-Institut für Astrophysik, Collège de France, Columbia University in post-doctoral and research positions. Julio participated in the Galileo Project as system engineer and product assurance in Indra Space. After working in the ESA mission Planck in 1995, Julio returned in 2008 to work at the Planck Science Office at the European Space Astronomy Centre of the European Space Agency in Madrid. Since then, Julio has worked as product assurance manager in missions such as: Gaia, Euclid, Plato, Bepicolombo, James Webb Space Telescope and more, more than 15 missions in total.
