Promoting values, emotional intelligence and physical condition in socio-economically disadvantaged adolescents through basketball

Resumen

La introducción del deporte en los programas de educación no formal para jóvenes no implica necesariamente la formación en valores y competencias emocionales que se le atribuyen, siendo varios los aspectos que la condicionan. Es por ello que este trabajo pretende encontrar áreas de mejora en la implantación de estos programas que muestren su eficacia y aseguren la adquisición de los mismos. Para la realización del estudio se utilizó un enfoque metodológico mixto donde se analizó el impacto del uso del baloncesto como herramienta para mejorar la condición física y la salud, así como la adquisición de valores y competencias emocionales en una muestra de adolescentes que viven en riesgo de exclusión social. Se recogieron datos relacionados con los hábitos de vida, los parámetros de condición física y las percepciones de los participantes durante la intervención a través de 2 estudios a lo largo de 2 temporadas y donde se aplicaron diferentes áreas de mejora entre los mismos. El análisis de los datos muestra la necesidad de aumentar las exigencias físicas durante el entrenamiento, añadiendo actividades específicas sobre valores y aspectos emocionales y dónde la formación de los entrenadores representó un elemento clave.
