Resumen
In this paper it is shown the experience of development cooperation carried out by the European University in Ethiopia, Guatemala and Honduras, which began in 2009, which is still ongoing, with the objective of making Service Learning in populations. The results of the last three years of experience are evaluated by analyzing, on the one hand, the impact on local society and, on the other hand, the educational process of the students who have participated in this project as well as the acquisition of skills and values in Education For Sustainable Development. It analyzes the development of competences of the students and their connection to a methodology of work in the field that has been carried out by prevailing the safety and health standards that are currently applied in Spain. The most remarkable results during this time are, in the case of the local population, an improvement in the quality and life expectancy, as well as the knowledge of the areas that can be improved. And, in the case of students, an increase in their sensitivity and their quantitative and qualitative values. Project-based learning projects that use development cooperation to acquire cross-cutting competencies.
