Abstract

As information professionals, Communication students are expected to have current abilities and skills in software management and Internet text writing. According to these goals, the Universidad Europea de Madrid Arts and Communication School developed the Wikiweek. This project instigated the use of Wikipedia in Journalism, Audiovisual Communication and Triple Degrees as a useful tool for the students. The aim of this shared activity was to practice writing skills and use of new technologies as part of the students learning process in information research. To identify and correct the written text mistakes, always taking into account grammar, lexical and cultural content. The student, working in pairs, makes the activity and also receives it. Wikipedia provides valid tools and resources so that the students acquire information taking active part in the different stages of the process. So, in the paper the objectives and main conclusions of this exercise done in the courses of Communication abilities and Journalistic Documentation research are presented.
