Abstract

Implantation in dentistry degree of clinical scenarios as simulation methodology focuses on the subject of pediatric dentistry around the professional-patient child-parent interaction. The objectives of this study focus on the use of role plays to improve communication skills and subsequent evaluation by the students and teachers. The sample consisted of students enrolled third year degree in the subjects of Pediatric Dentistry I and II. The methodology consisted of the use of a workshop card, videos, an instructive capsule theoretical orientation, prebriefing, student exposure to clinical situations and implementation of strategies for debriefing. And a community of practice by teachers was generated. Finally, the methodology was subjected to qualitative evaluation by teachers and quantitative through the students. The results were submitted to a descriptive analysis using the software program Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 2.1. a great motivation by teachers in relation to the use of this methodological tool was observed. In the results of students, lower average (3.99) was consistent with theoverall assessment and the highest average (4.34) with variable handling crisis situations. There are some differences between authors regarding the design and application of these methodologies. It is common to all studies obtaining positive assessments. The evaluation obtained both by students and faculty has been rewarding.
