Doctor by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid with the thesis The toxin-antitoxin e? system: Role of ? toxin in regulating ATP, GTP, (p)ppGpp and uridine diphosphate N-acetylglucosamine pool to cope with stress 2015. Supervised by Dr. Carlos Alonso Blanco.
As a microbiome, nutrition, and metabolomics researcher, I have made significant contributions to my field over the past years through my publications in reputable scientific journals. My research is focused on two main areas: studying the impact of diet and physical activity on gut microbiota and metabolomics of serum and feces, and exploring genetic markers for diagnostic purposes. My expertise lies in analyzing nutritional and statistical data from various studies, including interventional studies, metabolomics studies, and microbiota studies. Currently, I am working on three research projects. The first project is in collaboration with the University of Palermo in Italy, where we are investigating the anti-inflammatory effects of nano-vesicles isolated from lemon juice on the microbiota and metabolism in a model of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) in Wistar rats. The second project involves designing personalized supplements based on the intestinal microbiota of Alzheimer's patients using network analysis and artificial intelligence. The third project focuses on designing and implementing a Mediterranean diet for children with autism. I have presented my scientific outcomes at various international conferences and have received two international fellowships in the last three years. One was an EMBO Short Fellowship at the LEMM Laboratory Saclay-Paris France, where I collaborated with Dr. François Fenaille in the field of metabolomics. The other was an Erasmus Teaching Program fellowship. In addition to my research, I also teach at the Biomedical Sciences department of Universidad Europea de Madrid. I teach courses such as biochemistry, cellular biology, and human genetics, and I also supervise students in preparing their final Master's and Bachelor's theses since 2016. I have experience in disseminating science through the creation of scientific podcasts and social media posts. Currently, I manage the content of social media for @Ciencia y Vida SciCOMM (Instagram and Facebook). My academic and scientific achievements have been recognized by ANECA (Agencia Nacional de Evaluación de la Calidad y Acreditación).
