Doctor by the Universidad de Alcalá with the thesis La rivalidad internacional por la República Dominicana desde su independencia hasta la anexión a España (1844-1861) 2010. Supervised by Dr. Teresa Cañedo-Argüelles Fábrega, Dr. Manuel Lucena Salmoral.
I have a PhD in History from the University of Alcalá and a BA and MA in Contemporary History from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. My research revolves around the international relations of the 19th and 20th centuries between the two shores of the Atlantic Ocean, especially in the Caribbean Sea and the Dominican Republic, where both rising and declining imperial powers fought each other through diplomacy rather than war. These international rivalries arose primarily from geostrategic as well as economic and commercial interests. I am the author of "La rivalidad internacional por la República Dominicana y el complejo proceso de su anexión a España (1858-1865)" and co-author of "Efectos de la migración internacional en las comunidades de origen del suroeste de la República Dominicana". I have also published several chapters in collective monographs and numerous articles in specialized journals. Prior to my current position at Universidad Europea, I worked at the Dominican Republic’s National Archives as a research coordinator, and I have been a professor at IE University and UNIR, both in Madrid, as well as at Universidad Iberoamericana, Universidad Católica Santo Domingo, and Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, all three of them in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic’s capital city.
