Dr Jorge López Fernández, PhD, has been a full-time Assistant Professor at Universidad Europea (UEM) since September 2021. He has served as Director of the Online Master’s in Sports Marketing (Spanish version) at Escuela Universitaria Real Madrid–Universidad Europea since July 2023. He is affiliated with several research groups, including DATAFOOT (UEM), Escuela Universitaria Real Madrid (UEM), and GO Fit Lab (Ingesport Health & Spa Consulting). Dr López Fernández holds two doctoral degrees: a PhD in Health and Physical Activity Research (University of Castilla-La Mancha, 2018) and a PhD in Philosophy (Coventry University and GO Fit, 2022). He was also awarded a Fulbright Research Fellowship, which included a six-month research stay at the University of West Florida. He has published 32 peer-reviewed scientific works, including 25 articles in Journal Citation Reports (JCR) journals: 12 in Q1, 9 in Q2, 3 in Q3, and 1 in Q4. Additionally, he has co-authored 15 book chapters, 12 focused on teaching innovation and 3 on research and knowledge transfer—published by leading academic publishers such as Dykinson (SPI-Q1). Jorge has participated in 18 R&D projects funded by public and private entities, including the European project DIGI-SPORTING: A New Step Towards Digital Transformation Through Sports Science (Erasmus+, 2019–2022). He has also contributed to 11 recognized teaching innovation projects. Furthermore, he serves as an advisor for the spin-off IGOID SPORTEC SL, supporting more than 100 R&D&I contracts. His editorial and peer-review activities include serving as a reviewer for over 10 JCR-indexed journals and acting as Guest Editor for Applied Sciences (Q2, IF: 2.679). In the field of teaching, Jorge has delivered more than 1000 hours of lectures across the Sports Management and Sports Science undergraduate programs at Universidad Europea (UEM) and Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) either in Spanish or English. He coordinated Module 3 of a European postgraduate program developed within the Erasmus+ project DIGI-SPORTING. taught 6 ECTS in Strategic Marketing (English) within the MBA in Sports Management offered by Universidad Europea and the University of Torrens in collaboration with Escuela Universitaria Real Madrid. Additionally, he has designed and developed content for two online master’s programs in Sports Performance (UNIR and FUNIBER – 6 ECTs each) and one online undergraduate course at Universidad Europea (6 ECTs). Jorge has also coordinated the content for the the Master’s in Sports Marketing Online (60 ECTS – Spanish and 12 ECTs – English) at Escuela Universitaria Real Madrid Universidad Europea. Furthermore, he has contributed to the development of two Coursera courses in partnership with Escuela Universitaria Real Madrid. His supervision experience includes more than 20 undergraduate theses (TFG) and 25 master’s theses (TFM) across three Spanish universities. He has directed a doctoral thesis with international distinction and sobresaliente cum laude. Jorge has served as an external evaluator for three international doctoral theses.
