Doctor by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid with the thesis Los puntos de conexión en la normativa tributaria autonómica 1996. Supervised by Dr. Juan Ramallo Massanet.
Dr. Bokobo holds a PhD in Law (1996), having initially specialized in Tax Law and International Taxation. She subsequently completed a diploma in Accounting and Finance. She obtained her position as a Tenured University Professor (Titular de Universidad) in 2002, is fully accredited, and holds two officially recognized six-year research terms (sexenios). She performs teaching, research, and advisory duties (in both Spanish and English) across various areas—primarily in Tax Law, but also in Business Law, Leadership Skills, and Communication—at several universities in Spain (mainly the Universidad Europea de Madrid) and the United States (Schiller University in Florida and Texas A&M University). Her current teaching and research priorities focus on Private International Law, with a special emphasis on international business and the impact of AI on the law. Dr. Bokobo is the Co-Director of the Legal Clinic at the Universidad Europea de Madrid. She has held various academic positions and served as a Visiting Researcher at Harvard University. In this academic context, she is the author of several monographs and numerous doctrinal articles and contributions to collective books. Until January 2020, Dr. Bokobo served as Deputy Director of Global Tax Policies within the Fiscal Affairs Department at REPSOL (a Spanish energy company), leading the coordination and implementation of tax policy in diverse areas, including environmental taxes, financing, R&D incentives, and transfer pricing. A lawyer by training, Dr. Bokobo first joined REPSOL in 2011 as Head of Litigation, where she was responsible for conducting audits and representing REPSOL before national courts. In the context of taxation, Dr. Bokobo has also served as an Advisor to the Institute of Fiscal Studies (Ministry of Finance), where she participated in the Spanish Tax Reform of 2006 and was part of the Ministry’s expert group on European tax matters. From 2007 to 2011, and again during the 2021-2022 period, Dr. Bokobo served as a Senior Legal Counsel (Letrada) at the Supreme Court of Spain, where her primary responsibility was drafting resolution proposals and reports. Dr. Bokobo has served as Vice-Chair of the Tax Commission of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Chair of the Tax Commission for the ICC's Spanish section, playing a fundamental role in developing policy positions and representing business views among international organizations. She has worked with, and continues to maintain cooperative relations with, organizations such as the OECD, the United Nations (UN), the European Commission, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World Bank.
