Actualización de las intervenciones dirigidas al contexto familiar en los trastornos del comportamiento alimentarioel rol de los padres

Resumen

Los cuidadores de las personas que sufren un trastorno del comportamiento alimentario (TCA) suelen presentar problemas de salud y estrés asociados con la experiencia de ser cuidador. Mayoritariamente son los padres, ya que el inicio de este trastorno es durante la adolescencia. El objetivo de este estudio fue realizar una revisión acerca de cuál es la implicación de los factores familiares en la etiología de los TCA, conocer el impacto en la salud y las necesidades de las familias. Se revisaron algunas de las principales intervenciones dirigidas a la psicoeducación o a enseñar habilidades de afrontamiento. Los resultados muestran principalmente que existen algunos aspectos de las familias que pueden facilitar el mantenimiento de la patología como la emoción expresada o acomodarse a la sintomatología alimentaria de los hijos. Los resultados muestran la importancia de intervenir en los factores mantenedores asociados al rol del cuidador familiar, y que las intervenciones dirigidas a enseñar habilidades de afrontamiento han demostrado buenos resultados tanto en el bienestar de los familiares como en la sintomatología alimentaria de los pacientes.
