Abstract
This article puts forward a new perspective on the self-portraits of the French photographer Claude Cahun. Taken in the period between world wars, they show some kinhip with the surrealist tenets. Cahun stands out for her autonomy and originality in her treatment of the body and the definition of the ego; she brings up a radical androgyny, understood as the creation of thoroughly idiosyncratic identities, beyond the canons of gender ¿ which brings her close to the most innovative theories on identity.
