Abstract

The Community of Madrid has a rich cultural heritage that constitutes an exceptional educational resourcesrepertoire available for the public and formal education centers. Value enhancement of these resourcesusually relates to their tourism potential, but they are undervalued in terms of the educational possibilitiesthey offer.Used as didactic resources, different heritage elements are made known; they are valued for what they areand for what they are worth. This not only complements academic training with practical examples andaccess to primary sources, but also preserves and conserves these heritage elements. It is difficult to valuewhat we do not know about, which is why it is essential to incorporate heritage education in the classroom.In this collaboration, the main resources of the immovable heritage declared BIC (a Spanish legalprotection status) of the Community of Madrid are presents, as well as a study on the degree of students’heritage knowledge in ESO and Baccalaureate, while proposing an example of implementation of theseresources within the teaching plan
