This investigation attempts to pool research that, since the 1960s and in a renewed way, seeks to respond to the ethical questions that arise as a consequence of the viewing of television content by kids. In the study, the role of television as a public service function is analyzed from the perspective of content creators and managers, a key aspect given the important role that children’s audiovisual content plays in the growth of minors. Agents involved in the educational process are alert due to the increase in viewing time and the quality of audiovisual products. Through qualitative interviews with active professionals in the audiovisual sector belonging to the production, marketing, creative direction, script and strategy departments, the role of television and the needs of children’s audiences in the unique and challenging international framework of 2020 are analyzed. In addition, possible elements related to audiovisual content aimed at kids are also included in order to comply with the ethical code of the media. The professionals interviewed confirmed the three basic pillars of themedia, assuring that the main function of television is to entertain and inform society, and depending on the audience at which it is aimed, should also aspire to educate. The latter function carries more weight at the time of interviews due to the global pandemic caused by COVID-19. With the goal of complying with the deontological code of the profession, experts positively value the creation of spaces rich in educational content, rather than consisting of purely didactic content.
