Disestesias iatrogénicas del nervio mandibular: posibles causas y tratamiento

Resumo
During the dental treatment one of the complications that may appear is neurosensory dysesthesia, which produces a disturbance in receiving stimulus in the affecting area. The nerve most commonly affected is the mandibular nerve and particularly the branches of the later terminal trunk, the inferior alveolar nerve and the lingual nerve. The procedures most likely associated to this problem are extractions of wisdom teeth, implant treatment, nerve anesthetic blockades, endodontic treatment and orthodontic treatment. The treatment of this complication involves doing a correct diagnosis, clinical evaluation of the dysesthesia and subsequent follow-up. In those cases of mechanical trauma medical treatment is necessary. In permanent processes, surgical treatment may be considered but the success rates are extremely low.
