Zusammenfassung

Research on indirect free kicks is rare in the field of football analysis in China, and although football tactical analysis in this country has improved in recent years, there is still a gap in the study of set pieces. For this reason, the aims of this study were: i) to analyze and describe indirect free kicks in the 2020 Chinese Super League and, ii) to know which are the indicators that modify the result of indirect free kicks, as well as to discover the interaction of indicators that contribute to a greater probability of success in this type of actions. Using the Observational Methodology, 702 indirect free kicks corresponding to 160 matches of the 2020 Chinese Super League were analyzed. At a bivariate level, the differences based on the result were analyzed using a chi-square statistic (p<.05) and, at a multivariate level, a decision tree technique was applied. The criteria that demonstrated a statistically significant influence on the result of these actions were: Zone of indirect free kick (p<.001), Interaction Context in the finishing zone (p<.05), Number of attackers involved (p<.001) and Form of finishing (p<.001). At the multivariate level, the criteria that significantly modified the probability of success in indirect free kicks were the number of players involved, zone of indirect free kick and delivery zone. These results can be useful when proposing strategies in the execution of indirect free kicks.
