Abstract
This article is a reflection arising from experience as a research nurse and fieldwork, where the researcher became the instrument itself. Likewise, this experience articulated some key concepts in qualitative research and the role of the nurse researcher in practice with vulnerable groups such as homeless women, to understand their reality and establish care plans according to needs. The reflexivity or constant critical attitude, allowed methodological decisions to guarantee the rigor and credibility of the results, besides crossing ethically important moments during the field work.
