Abstract

The reforms promoted by the Bologna process have led to changes in the forms ofteaching and learning within the framework of European Higher Education. Theuniversity has to be both formative and educator, able to create competent, reflectiveand critical professionals. As a result, the EUE Red Cross has chosen to incorporateparticipatory methodologies to focus on student learning action, favoring theircomprehensive training and encouraging their active participation. The proposedinnovation is the use of the portfolio for tracking learning in practice from a studentcentered vision for not only summative but formative assessment. In the literature ithas been observed that the involvement of students in identifying problems throughthe portfolio , provides teachers with a greater understanding of the learningprocesses of students as well as an opportunity for them to make learning morereflective , autonomous and participatory practices eminently important in disciplinessuch as nursing
