Abstract

Sacroiliitis is a typical spondyloarthritis condition. It presents as alternating gluteal pain or low back pain of inflammatory rhythm. In diagnosing it, it is important to differentiate it from other causes such as infectious or degenerative origins, among others. For the diagnosis, laboratory and imaging tests are used. Such imaging tests include sacroiliac joint x-rays and magnetic resonance imaging, with the latter being especially useful in differential diagnosis. Discitis generally has an infectious origin, but it can also be caused by mechanical and inflammatory problems. Likewise, imaging and laboratory techniques are useful, along with cultures when there is suspicious of an infectious cause.
