The cleaning of the root canal system is a key part of the endodontic treatment, to such an extent that it forms part of the three mainstays in root canal treatment (along with drilling and filling). The current state of science shows that active irrigation, along with the use of products such as calcium binders, can produce more predictable results in root canal cleaning. In this study, different forms of active irrigation are compared, contrasting the result with passive irrigation, using different in vitro irrigation patterns and different concentrations.
