Résumé

A 10-year, 5-month-old-girl with a class II dental and skeletal malocclusion presented for orthodontic treatment. The patient showed an excesive deepbite and gummy smile. Treatment consisted on a single phase with an edgewise fixed appliance. Ectopic eruption of the upper right second bicuspid tooth bud modifies conventional treatment approach at this stage. Good results were maintained after a 5 year 8 month posretention period. (This case was presented to the Spanish Society of Orthodontics XLVI Annual Meeting in partial fulfillment of the requirements needed to become a diplomate member of this society.)
