Abstract

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a compound used in the production of polycarbonates and epoxy resins, whose use is widespread in the industry. BPA can be passed to the organism through the diet, as its molecules have probable migration from the containers made with this product to the foods contained in those containers. The presence of D BPA in the dental materials is very widespread. A large quantity of products are made with epoxy resins (from the reaction of the Epichlorohydrin and the Bisphenol). The present study analyzed four cements of use endodontic based on resin (AH 26 ®, Ah Plus ®, TopSeal ® and Simpliseal ®) through a procedure of extraction líquido´sólido and analysis in gas chromatograph coupled to mass spectrometry. The results obtained were values alarmingly higher than the 5x10-6% by weight that allows the European Union for the migration of BPA from the container to the food, obtaining values of 7% (Simpliseal ®); 22% (Ah 26 ®); 46% (TopSeal ®); and 74% (Ah Plus ®,). The present study is a pioneer in the study of the concentration of BPA in endodontic materials.
