Zusammenfassung

Introduction: According to the scientific literature, traumatic dental injury is considered to be one of the most under-researched topics in dentistry. More high-quality studies are needed to support clinical decision-making. Material and methods: A bibliographical search was conducted in PubMed, Cochrane, Web of Knowledge and SCiELO, using the keywords "Traumatic Dental Injuries' and, as inclusion criteria, "published in the last 5 years" and "publications written in the English language" and, as exclusion criteria, "articles not related to dental traumatology", "Editorials and letter to the editor" and "in vitro and animal studies". 364 publications were obtained. Results: Cross-sectional studies and publications on epidemiology were the most frequent findings. On the other hand, very few articles were found in the form of meta-analysis and systematic reviews. Publications on prevention and the diagnosis of traumatic dental injuries, and articles on traumatic dental injuries in the primar)' dentition were also scar·ce. Conclusio11s: More studies on traumatic dental injuries ai·e needed, especially in the primar)' dentition, in addition to studies with more scientific evidence.
