Resumo

Dental decay is one of the most prevalent diseases worldwide. Its diagnosis is made by visual and radiographic examination. Because of the variety in clinical forms, places of presentation, diagnosis, activity and treatment, it is necessary to classify caries lesion to order the disease. Currently the caries classification that the professionals continue to use for lesion record and the communication is Black classification. Because caries lesion is a dynamic and non-static disease, throughout history different classifications systems have become for its registration as Site/Stage classification.
