Abstract

Introduction: dental traumatology remains one of the least studied topics in Dentistry, requiring further research to establish clinical protocols.Material and methods: we conducted a bibliographic search across the main databases using the following keywords: “Traumatic dental injuries.” Inclusion criteria “articles published since 2018”, “reports in English or Spanish”. Exclusion criteria were “articles not related to dental traumatology” and “editorials, letters to the editor, and article comments.” Finally, a total of 367 articles were selected. Results: cross-sectional studies and reports on education and information to the population on dental traumatology predominate. Although, in recent years, the number of systematic reviews and meta-analyses has increased, there are still few reports on traumatology in primary dentition. Conclusions: more studies on dental traumatology are needed, especially in primary dentition, as well as studies that provide stronger evidence.
